A gift-wrapped community
The Emmanuel Church in Glenhaven is gift-wrapping 1900 Essential Jesus Gospels in preparation for Christmas this year.
Church members will door-knock homes in the local area over 2 Sundays, to give out their special gift, along with a Christmas card from Anglicare which will include a note of thanks for the community’s help with the recent food drive (held in June). The card will also include church service times over the Christmas season.
The church has also printed ‘thankyou’s’ in the local paper for the support of the local residents during the food drive, which was also held in partnership with Cherrybrook and Dural Parishes.
“Connect09 has provided a focus for Glenhaven to get to know the community better”, the Rev John Hooton, minister at the Emmanuel Church said today.
This will be the 5th time the church has made contact with the community through letter-box drops and door-knocking.
“We have received a warm response from the local residents and have been able to establish meaningful relationships with many of them” Rev Hooton said.
