Make the most of Easter 2010 with Colin

Are you ready for Easter 2010?

Don’t forget, the Colin Buchanan DVD is still available to purchase (for churches involved in the Connect09 campaign).

Many other resources are also still available, including the Mark’s Magazine’s Gospel, the Audio Gospel of the Essential Jesus, and the Qurious Youth seminar DVD.

Here are some great ideas for using the Colin DVD:

• Senior Ministers could consider talking to non-Anglican scripture teachers so that they could distribute them this Easter (lending them a copy could be helpful in allaying any fears).

• Make use of the kids/holiday club program based around the Colin Buchanan DVD, which is already on this website.

• Contact could be made with teachers who run ISCF and Crusader groups. This could be done through local clergy and scripture teachers who would know or could easily find out if such groups were run in their school. It may also be possible for this to be done through contacts at Scripture Union and Crusaders. The teachers/leaders could be given the booklet of activities and advised to purchase through their local Anglican church at $1 a copy.

• Consider distributing the DVD in hospitals – kids come and go on a daily basis. The Mark’s Magazine Gospel could also be given out to parents.

• They could be handed out at the Youthworks, Crusaders and ISCF holiday camps.

• Ministers could suggest to their congregation members who have shops, businesses, surgeries (doctors, dentists etc) that they have a ‘Please Take One’ pile readily available.

• Hand them out at local market days, festivals, family BBQ evenings, etc (maybe using sample bags).

• Encourage Youth Groups to make connections with younger kids in their local area by handing them out to parents with families at their local shopping or outside movie theatres when kids’ movies are screening.

• Perhaps they could be given out at the railway stations and bus stops that are taking families to the Easter Show – maybe include a pamphlet before Easter from the local church re Easter Services.

• Hand them out to Mums at church play groups and also to families that come for baptism, especially those that already have older children.

• Order some to have in reserve for the future, for new families that come to church, families that only turn up at Easter and Christmas, or new kids that might come to Sunday School, Kids Club etc.  A newcomers family package, including the DVD ...and some Freddo Frogs could be the way to go!!

• Remember that the DVDs are $1 a copy while stocks last. After this, the DVD will then only be available from Colin’s office and various bookshops for $20 each.
